History
Lord Somers Camp was established in 1931 by the then Governor of Victoria – Lord Arthur Herbert Tennyson Somers. Lord Somers was passionate about community development particularly in youth. His aim was to create a more inclusive society where all people had the opportunity to be happy. To do this he started Lord Somers Camp, which introduced youth to their peers from diverse backgrounds.
These successful camps have been running at our campsite since 1931 and continue today, providing fantastic personal and community development opportunities to young people.
We now run 22 personal and community development programs each year and we continue to run them with Lord Somers’ original goal of a more inclusive and friendly society.
