June 2017 – As a NFP, Lord Somers Camp relies on the assistance and incredible community spirit of like-minded organisations to help us continue to offer positive life changing experiences for children in families facing difficult challenges.
Earlier this month we had the privilege of welcoming corporate volunteers from the offices of Melbourne based The Walt Disney Company (Australia).
150 motivated Disney staff arrived early on Tuesday morning ready to do whatever was necessary to help us improve our camp facilities for the benefit of the hundreds of children and families that pass through our doors.
We are so thankful for the enormous range of tasks they undertook throughout the day including – spreading mulch over indigenous garden beds, sweeping and clearing our vast grounds of leaves and other tree debris, washing down internal and external walls in accommodation blocks, clearing spider webs (although this wasn’t for everyone), not to mention cleaning every single window of camp inside and out!! We even found time to play initiative games and take some amazing memorable photos of the day. And, as you’d expect, the Disney volunteers did it all with smiles on their faces all day 
Days like these are so valuable in building strong community bonds. The contribution The Walt Disney Company has made is sincerely appreciated not only by me but also the hundreds of Lord Somers Camp members that volunteer every year to run fun packed camps for families in need.
Thank you Disney VoluntEARS!!
