Our overnight adventure under the stars is always popular! Starting with a 3½km walk to Balnarring Beach campground, students stop off at a Parks Victoria rangers’ quarters and visit a wildlife hospital. Then it’s time to pitch the tents and cook dinner. Evening is spent singing songs, storytelling, and stargazing. The following morning students head back to Lord Somers along the beach, with the chance of seeing racehorses training or a pod of dolphins playing in the bay. This activity can incorporate kayaking, beachcombing and rock pool rambling.
Students will embark from the grounds of Lord Somers Camp and walk with an overnight pack (all bedding, cookware, navigational equipment and personal accessories) to Balnarring foreshore campground. This process will inevitably encourage peer-to-peer cooperation, communication, allow students to experiment and explore themselves as they develop basic bushwalking skills.
Relax and be entranced by the flickering flames, tell stories, sing songs or read a poem. Program and information sheets are available.
The students become bush chefs as they create from our recipe books.
